Sustainable Development Council under purview of Ministry of Economic Policies and Plan Implementation conducted its Second Voluntary National Review (VNR) of the implementation of SDG in the Eastern Province on 29th March 2022 at JKAB Beach Resort, Trincomalee in collaboration with Eastern Provincial Council.
This workshop was chaired by Mr.Thusitha P Wanigasinghe , the Chief Secretary of the Eastern Provincial Council with the participation of Secretaries & Heads of EPC, Senior officials from three district administrations, Hon. Chairmen & Secretaries of selected local authorities , senior academic staff from Eastern and South Eastern Universities and other relevant officials from Central Agencies, Police Department and local NGOs working in Eastern Province.
The main objective of this workshop was to review the current process and practices being followed by various public and private institutions on implementing the SDG concept in Eastern Province. Existing practices, challenges and way forward initiations in implementing the SDG concept in Eastern Province by different entities were the key areas for discussion at this workshop.
Ms. Ms.Shashikala Ratnayake, Director Development of Sustainable Development Council and her team facilitated the entire session with their technical guidance and directions. The UNDP organization financially supported this workshop in providing all the logistic arrangements.
