A pilot launch of a mobile application for the Solid Waste Management will be held on 20th (Wednesday) December 2017, 3 PM at the Kalmunai Municipal Council premises with the presence of Commissioner Mr. J.Liyakath Ali as the Chief Guest and Eng. T.Sarvananthan as the Guest of Honour. Presence of the public is appreciated. — with ideaGeek, UCAN and iVoice.

An innovative idea of mobile application for waste collection was initially crafted by a group of youth members of Youth Creative Action Network of Ampara District. The idea was then pitched by IdeaGeak and UCAN members in iVoice Sri Lanka competition, which won the best 10 ideas in Sri Lanka iVoice 2017 competition.

Congratulations to all UCAN and IdeaGeak team members to make this innovation a success. The application will be made available for public after the pilot launch via http://citizen.ideageek.net/.

We believe that this new innovative solution will contribute to the achievement of the national action plan 2017 action 4 on data and use of technology GPS monitoring and vehicle scheduling , action point 11 – Use GPS technology to linearise the process of collection and transport, and use apps to ensure front end collection.
