Interreligious Prayer and Meditation Session followed by Panel Discussion on Role of Religious Leaders for Actions for Peace: Our Ambitions for the #GlobalGoals
The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations General
Assembly. Two decades later, in 2001, the General Assembly unanimously voted
to designate the Day as a period of non-violence and cease-fire. Each year the International Day
of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The UN General Assembly has
declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, through observing 24 hours
of non-violence and cease-fire. The 2023 theme for the International Day of Peace is “Actions
for Peace: Our Ambitions for the #GlobalGoals.” Female Religious Leaders for Dialogue and
Mediation (FREEDOM) Community of Practice, Resilience Research, Training and Consulting,
and the Resilience Foundation are organizing Religious Peace Makers is organizing an
Interreligious Prayer and Meditation Session followed by Panel Discussion on Role of Female
Religious Leaders for Actions for Peace: Our Ambitions for the #GlobalGoals.
Objective:
- To conduct an inter-religious prayer and meditation session for the world peace.
- To discuss the role of female religious leaders in relation to the International Day of Peace
