Inauguration of IESL Ampara District Centre and SEUSL Student Chapter 26 Sep 2013 12:16 PM | IESL

The president IESL has ceremonially opened its Ampara District Centre and Student Chapter of the Faculty of Engineering at the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka Oluvil, at premises of the South Eastern University on 15th September 2013. The President of IESL Eng. Tilak De Silva was the Chief Guest.

This occasion was graced by , Eng. A.L.M. Nizar, Chairman of IESL Eastern province, Eng. Arjuna Manamperi -Chairman of ICT Committee of IESL, , and Dr. S.M. Junaideen, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, South Eastern University.

Eng. A. L. M. Nizar, Chairman IESL Eastern provincial Centre announced following member for the district committee who were elected by the Provincial Centre East at the meeting held on 17.08.2013.

President IESL endorsed and declared the above district committee members for the session 2013/2014.

The president of IESL in his keynote address highlighted that IESL District Centre play an important role for the Engineering community as Engineers working or living in every district are able to meet regularly and these Centres will make them connected closely with their fellow members. He appreciated the move of Provincial Centre for coupling the undergraduates of Faculty of Engineering at the inception with the IESL, although some universities waited to join IESL for ages.

Eng. A.L.M. Nizar delivered his guest speech on “who is an Engineer?” with a slide show of depicting basic elementary engineering to state of the art, reconstruction of Arugambay Bridge. Dr. S.M. Junaideen founder Dean of the Faculty of Engineering in speech described about the Faculty of Engineering SEUSL and requested the IESL and their member’s fullest support for the future betterment of the faculty.

The Chairman of ICT Sectional Committee of IESL, Eng. Arjuna Manamperi delivered a special talk on “Engineers as Leaders” was a highlight of this ceremony.  Eng. P. Jathees from the Department of Irrigation, Ampara presented a technical paper on the “Design of Kalugal Oya reservoir” during this event.

This remarkable milestone event was modulated and concluded with the vote of thanks by Co-Secretary  : Eng.A.M.Aslam Saja of IESL District Centre Ampara.
